We are the first
independent, bottom-up, non-power-based political Movement
and Process, independent of all existing political
parties, and free of official membership, of constituency
selection committees, and of central funding beholden
to vested interest sponsors. People offer our initiative
support as individuals and do so as citizens in a Trustees-All
Movement. We deem all current political, economic &
social institutions unfit for purpose since unable to
secure the trust of the people. Root and branch reform
of these institutions, according to recognised yet rarely
achieved principles of genuine democracy, is thus required.
To use the political
system, to become the system, to change the system, to
bring about renewed institutions that will foster Truth
and recover Trust within society.
To restore England
to independent sovereign-nation status. Invite the four
nations and other islands that currently constitute the
UK to re-form as a Confederation. Equip all reformed and
renewed institutions with democratic charters and protocols
for governance. Entrench such root-and-branch reform in
a written and living constitution.
Independent self- and crowd-funded
candidates representing a citizen Trustees-All Movement,
could begin to stand under an Independent Constitutionalist
banner in future general elections and campaign for a
written constitution based on a living charter of principles
called a Peoples 21st Century Magna Carta. With
the electorates support, the candidates would work
to form a non-partisan Constitutional Parliament to replace
the existing House of Lords and function as a real Upper
House to which, under a new Constitution, any future House
of Commons & government will be accountable. Said
Constitutional Parliament will call general elections
for both the House of Commons & Executive Government
to re-legitimise themselves every seven years.
Constitutionalists are now inviting volunteers to become
Speakers for their cities, towns, villages and communities.
Speakers will initially recruit and support independent
candidates to the Constitutional Parliament and will organise
DemoCafés to encourage proper ongoing deliberative
debate to take place among citizen-trustees. With support
for the four major and the eight minor political parties
becoming increasingly volatile and unpredictable, a real
opportunity could arise within the next few years to elect
a Constitutional Parliament and to start to implement
a Peoples Magna Carta for the 21st Century.
Current political developments suggest,
further, that a refashioning of the United Kingdom into
a New Confederation for the Islands of Britain may become
not only desirable, but also necessary, in the near future.
